SHOW YOUR TRUE COLORS
Spring has sprung! After a long winter here in Millsberry, citizens are bidding farewell to the cold gray, and welcoming in the sweet colors of spring. Around town, innocent pink apple blossoms and bright yellow tulips are popping up—an early reward for putting up with Old Man Winter.
So, what other colors will we see? Well, all the ones you can create—courtesy of the grand reopening of Poster Jams! Now, for the first time, you'll be able to customize your poster with colors, backgrounds, graphics, layouts and messages, and then display them in your home.
Can't wait until summer to see the ocean? Splash one above your bed! Need a little luck? Let Lucky loose in your hall!
Apparently some prominent citizens have really taken to the Jams.
Outside Wearhouse, a stylish shopper was beaming. "I hear Loretta Rivers has already posted unicorns and lions on her wall, to inspire her summer clothing line," she whispered.
Likewise, an anonymous town crier tells the Gazette that racing pro Clint Bowyer chose to stick a surfboard on his wall—and has since decided to take a break from the racetrack to learn how to surf with Kai, in Hawaii! Do you think he'll even master surfing in reverse? Time will tell.
Down at the bank, we caught up with Mr. Oliver Wendlewort who was using his lunch break to make a poster of town historian Edna Nelson skateboarding. "I think Poster Jams is giving people a great opportunity to show off their personality by making something of their own."
And what did Edna have to say about all of this? Over at the Historical Society, she told us that she used Buzz the Bee in one of her poster creations. She was smiling and said, "Buzz always reminds me to be sweet and happy. I hope people notice." Of course we do, Edna!
And, for those who'd like a little spring in their step? You might take a cue from the spirited Millsberrian who put the message "Dancing Machine" on her poster—and now hosts weekly dance competitions with her friends. "It's so much fun!" said one participant. "I'm perfecting my shopping-cart dance moves."
In any case, warmer weather always helps us feel more energized, and fills us with great ideas and goals. It's the perfect time to refresh your surroundings and show off your interests, so give Poster Jams a try. Whether you consider yourself an artist or an amateur, you're sure to produce a signature masterpiece, every time!

176 YEARS AGO TODAY..
The first publicly-funded library in the United States—the Peterborough Town Library in Peterborough, New Hampshire—opened its doors on April 9th, 1833.
This means that librarians have been telling us to hush for almost 200 years!
So, what was life like before the public library? Well, since ancient times, civilizations have been reading from and writing on stones, tree bark, metal sheets and more, so there was always material to go around. Those would have been some heavy books to borrow, huh?
Fortunately, today we're able to borrow books right here in Millsberry. It may not be the easiest place to find, but nestled inside Millsberry Academy sits the Library—and it's filled with a variety of fiction and nonfiction. Make an escape with a biography on the famed escape-artist Houdini. Or read a fable. Or teach yourself sign language—the librarians won't mind! Most importantly, if you can't remember the last time you borrowed a book, go back and browse! Just remember to return overdue books—quietly!
